Hope you had a wonderful New Year and are wrapped up warm during this lovely cold and frosty start.

Some of you may have seen it and some of may have not, but during the Christmas break an ad campaign was started for my official single ‘No Sunshine’. This has sparked a great deal of interest and has since been broadcast on various channels in the UK including the MTV Networks.

The advert has so far been shown on channels such as MTV, MTV Hits, VH1 and VIVA (TMF) during prime-time shows including the MTV Video Music Awards 2009, Michael Jackson: The Official All-Time Top 40, Rihanna Vs Beyonce: Top 20 and The Official Top 40 Best Selling of 2009.

Hey all,

Hope you’ve all been keeping well. It’s been a while since I’ve been able to get on here and hit you back with an update so here goes.

First of all, I would like to thank each and every one of you who have bought a copy of my single ‘No Sunshine’. I was shocked by the amazing and overwhelming response it got and I’m pleased that the sales are still continuing to grow after it’s first month. Thank you to Matchbox Recordings and Universal Music for giving me the platform to do my thing and to Silvertip Films for creating such wonderful music video. The video has since been played on NME TV, Channel AKA and Musicbox TV with an advert soon to be screened on MTV as well. Thanks to Buzz Asia and Radio Asian Fever for your support with the track, including all the listeners to who have been voting in to get it played.

For those who would still like to purchase the physical CD of ‘No Sunshine’ please send an email to jay@jaymakwana.com and it will be sent out to you. Copies are also available in selected record shops around the country.

Also this month, I had the pleasure to once again perform at Brent Town Hall for the Wanza Samaj Diwali Show Spectacular on Nov 15th. This was our special JMJ Productions’ tribute to the King of Pop and you can check out the video for our performance here:

Hey guys, I just thought I’d come on here and let you all know how much of a blast I had at the MJ51 shows this passed weekend. It was an honour to perform at the events and a lot of hard work went into making it a success. So a big thanks to everyone involved, including those working behind the scenes.

It was really nice meeting other performers from different backgrounds and cultures and it was a real pleasure working with Desi Masti, Sublime, Lexia Dance and 3stylers on the different acts. On Thursday we learnt about the tragic and devestating loss of the King of Pop Michael Jackson. This is something I thought we would never see happen so early in our lifetime. I am so shocked that I couldn’t even bring myself to talk. I am still struggling to try and find the right words. I cannot even begin to explain how and what I am feeling right now.  

Michael Jackson was and is my personal hero on so many different levels. He was a person with so much love to give. Where he went, you could tell by just being in his presence, that he genuinly cared. He had such great love for life and believed you should never take anything for granted… cherish all those moments you have.  Not only was Michael Jackson the greatest entertainer/artist of all time, but he was a man who had the purest soul. He touched so many people around the world by his efforts delivered through his music right through to doing all he can to improve our human race and the healing of our planet. With this great passion he was able open our eyes to the conditions around us. He has inspired me in so many different ways, shaping me to be the person I am today. This is something which can never be forgotten. Michael has taught us to always believe in yourself, never give up and appreciate what life has to offer. Stop existing and start living. And always stay true to yourself and the people you love. We all have the power and ability to make something of ourselves and achieve those dreams we’re going for. 

It is important to remember that Michael loved us all, his fans. I am very priveleged I had the opportunity to shake the hand of such a genius and live my life during the era of such a legend. When I think Michael Jackson… I think magic. The man had plenty of it! I hope his life & music continues to inspire many more generations to come. My thoughts are with Michael’s family and his children. God bless them all. May his soul rest in peace in a place where no one can hurt him anymore.
